Dear Friends,
Have you ever taken a trip to a familiar place but taken a different route? Perhaps on the way, you noticed things that you would not have otherwise noticed? We can take this same approach of noticing different things as we participate in the Eucharist, using different liturgies to get to the same destination.
This coming Sunday, we will begin using liturgies again from Enriching Our Worship that we used just a few years ago. The EOW liturgies expand our vocabulary of prayer and the ways in which we name the Holy One. These liturgies bear witness to the fact that the mystery of God transcends all categories of knowing. At the same time, EOW liturgies keep continuity with biblical and ecclesiastical tradition and lead us deeper into the mystery of God.
This will not be a permanent change. Over time, we will enjoy and benefit from a large range of the liturgies in our Episcopal tradition.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Peace and grace,
Fr. Jonathan
