Dear Friends,
I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday for our Annual Parish Meeting at 11:15 in the Church. I am so happy about those who have said yes to being candidates for the vestry: Ed Strong, Heather Williamson, and Nancy Snethen. I am also deeply grateful for the faithful service of outgoing members: Jenny Wise and Beth Moss – they were vestry members before I came and served during many transitions, including the pandemic.
I would also like to direct our attention toward Lent. Lent began last Wednesday and we received the invitation during the Ash Wednesday service:
I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the
observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance;
by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and
meditating on God’s holy Word.
Lent is about dropping what doesn’t matter and giving yourself toward what does matter in God’s reign. As we “Pray, Love, Give,” let us keep the Ash Wednesday invitation in the forefront of our thoughts and actions.
As always, if you would like to talk about a spiritual concern, I am here for you.
In Christ,
Fr. Jonathan
